THE END OF AN ERA…

We’ve had a You Tube Page of the same name, ‘Exquisite Nylon’, for around four years now…

The first channel iteration had another name. Somebody, we don’t know exactly who, but we have our suspicions, reported the channel 3 times  and it was deleted from existence. A lot of work and time and effort was wasted!

Next came the second iteration, and within the first year and a half we saw the channel grow to an all time high of 8,500 views per day with a subscriber base exceeding 7,000 people.

From time to time, we are shown success stories of people having their video’s going viral on You Tube an it being deemed that they made hundreds of thousands pounds almost in an instant. We suggest you view these stories with some degree of scepticism. The story is the carrot that is put out to get people creating fresh content that You Tube can use for free to peddle their wares daily…

In reality,a good few of our video clips exceeded 500,000 hits, and were earning some money. It is fair to say, that for the duration of the channels existence we have never earned more than about £20 per month. Barely enough to pay our broadband bill, and certainly nowhere near enough to cover our production costs of making unique content for public consumption. Some of the popular videos would build up to 500,000 hits or so and then mysteriously just be taken out of monetisation…

So cue this last weekend, around 16th April 2016. We had spent the best part of the previous week remastering ten to fifteen videos that we had run on the channel before and uploaded them. We sent out a global email to all our subscribers telling them we were firing the channel up again. We saw the daily views average rise from around 400 to nearly 7,000. Then,…

BOOM!!!

Somebody reported a video of a guy cleaning our stairs as inappropriate and it was taken down. This video had previously drawn over 500,000 hits without a problem. Five of our other videos were deemed as only suitable for adults and taken out of monetisation…

We scan You Tube daily and come across all kinds of inappropriate content that is far more adult than anything we have rigorously produced to sit within the boundaries of tasteful provocative tease.

The days of a You Tube dream are long gone…

We totally agree with suitable censorship and protecting sensitive people and minors from seeing inappropriate content. However…

The biggest issue with You Tube/Google is that there is no platform to discuss issues with a live real person. They do what ever they want and you just have to put up with it! They can take your content out of monetisation, but will still run their adds on that content and earn money on it themselves. This is morally wrong and bad business practice.

There is no safety net to protect a creator studio from internet trolls who revel in destroying creative work and endeavours, because they have nothing useful to put into society themselves, and prefer to put jealous malice into play to serve their own sick ‘intellectual pygmy’ type minds.

The net result is that we have taken all our You Tubes videos down, bar the Trailer. You may consider we are like a child throwing all their toys out of the pram! And to an extent you are right we are unhappy with the situation. However, thinking of Einstein’s quote that a true sign of madness is to try something and if it doesn’t work to keep on doing the same thing!

Now is the time to consider something different…

We apologise to all our You Tube fans and subscribers. We know from your comments that you liked what we produced very much. We will be back in the coming months with a subscriber channel on a different platform.

Watch this Space!

We welcome any comments you may have on this matter or ideas of best way to move forward….
