Sometimes, a model comes into our lives like a whirling dervish, full of enthusiasm and raring to shoot something new and exciting. Cue a well known international Nylon model Goddess Gin.
Pass her in the street and a glance, and double take, might have you reeling thinking you almost bumped into well known celebrity Pamela Anderson!
So we had been lent an awesome pair of leather formed dragon’s wings that the maker wanted shooting stylistically in a number of ways. Goddess Gin jumped at the opportunity to cavort around the hi key set up showing off her prowess as a female predator and dragon lady.
As a product, the wings were to retail for a couple of thousand pounds, and we felt highly privileged to shoot such a unique item. One can see the way the light catches them and shows off the amazing iridescent colour way that was crafted across the formed material.
All in all, it was an amazing day, and we were very fired up to shoot Goddess Gin in some of our finest nylon.
Then like a puff of smoke she was gone…
An amazing lady, and amazing costume that would be a showstopper at any cosplay event. We had the wings long enough to shoot two young ladies in an Angel au Demon style that was heavily laced with a unique take on ripped pantyhose. Watch this space for more on this later.
If you have something unique and creative you would like to shoot then do drop us a line through the website. we revel in making your products positively Rock!
We are not quite sure how to label this post, but whatever the title the shoot made for an intriguing style…The tiddly hat worn atop the models head is often referred to as a ‘Fascinator’…
The model had the basic Bodice and lace dress to which we added the finishing touches. Of course ladies would not have worn nylon in those days, but the model had some delightful ink to display on her legs that we wanted to show through, so transparent shiny pantyhose were the order of the day.
Also we showcased one of our favourite props here. An original Jean Paul Gaultier Rubber Umbrella with ornate handle, which is currently on sale on eBay.
JEAN PAUL GAULTIER RUBBER UMBRELLA – FOR SALE
We also employed a combination of studio lamps punching light into the scene and natural light as seen in the shot above, whilst partaking of afternoon tea.
We had many bluebells growing in our garden and so found it appropriate to make up a little seasonal bouquet to complement her intricate make up.
We would like to point out that it is illegal in the UK to pick bluebells in the wild…so do take heed as there is a hefty fine if you are caught doing this.
Next accoutrement was a fine ebony and alpaca silver Gentleman’s walking cane. It is worth noting that whilst an expensive item, alpaca silver forming the handle at the top of the cane does not in fact contain any real silver. It is an alloy of copper, zinc and nickel that mimics silver.
Finally, our old shed, that we kept our lawn mower and other garden equipment in, fell down as the roundels of wood supporting its corners had rotted through. The Tin Roof provided to final piece of the puzzle for a different urban backdrop…
You may or may not remember the old style ladies lingerie shops that used to display oodles of foundation wear and girdles and more often than not had upturned mannequin legs in the window adorned with the finest seamed stockings…
Well if you didn’t here is an example. Our fabulous model, got right into the theme of the shoot and when asked to show her appreciation for the inanimate stockinged leg showed her appreciation with her tongue. Cheeky Girl!
But after all, isn’t that the essence of old style Pin Up shoots? A sassy style and cheekiness go hand in hand with that era where sexuality exuded an innocent naivety sadly lacking in our more overt modern times.
Mistress PussyKat, understands the genre of Burlesque very well and knows that the whole point is to use her full repertoire of skills to tease the weaker sex into a state of complete acquiescence to the power of the feminine form. Whether it be an adjustment of her stocking tops, or a twirling of her pastie tassels, each delicate movement adds to the next in achieving the desired goal.
This, ‘you can look, but you dare not touch! style can be seen at many of the Burlesque revival shows that have become popular in underground subculture of late, and has even broken into the mainstream with the relentless promotion by top stars like Dita von Tease.
The other point of this style is a celebration of real women. Yes that’s right, women with a bit of meat of them, women unabashed and unafraid to share their buxom and very beautiful nature with you. Almost, the antithesis of what the global advertising industry pumps at us all daily of stick thin, anorexic almost ‘junkie style’ deities, known as models, who survive on a lettuce leaf for sustenance.
Yes its a Renaissance for all women (well with the exception of carpet munchin’ feminists perhaps!!!) And yes this article does not lie within the boundaries of ‘so called’ modern political correctness, but that after all is a concept designed to strip you of your sense of self and individuality. We welcome those of you who do appreciate the finer nuances of life’s rich pattern and take this text with the tongue in cheek style it is intended.
Its always to nice to work with new models, and see their confidence develop throughout a shoot as they warm to the experience and find their own style.
We hasten to add that we are big fans of people who develop their own style and personality and we Love helping them find a new side of that persona.
So a delightful model, StormKitty, from Sussex agreed to shoot at a nice friend’s flat in Brighton and give some retro secretary in nylons and rubber a go. The Nylon’s in question were limited edition La Perla BlackFoot style with contrast seam.
The Nylons set went very well, with both an appreciation for uber high heels and nylon foot tease.
We then shifted to experimenting with different lighting to change the mood, and showcase a very shiny rubber two piece, Pink Peep Toe Heels and Jonathan Aston, ‘Burlesque’ seamed Pantyhose.
We know that Stormkitty has gone on to being very popular with her alternative style and ‘can do’ attitude and is now doing around four or five paid shoots a month.
It is always great to give somebody the jumpstart they need to get their career off the ground. We have done it many times to date and are always looking for new talent to help and encourage into achieving their goals and dreams. Not all will succeed, but its a great journey and something to look back on with pride when old and wrinkly and reminiscing with the grandchildren…
Rather than just shoot for the sake of it we like to be creative and come up with a story to frame our retro shoots.
So taking a maid shoot as an initial theme we then decided to enlist the help of a top class male model to add an air of decadence to the concept.
We started off with a simple fashion shoot so that the couple could familiarise themselves with one another’s working style, before we got into this concept.
And soon the maid was well on her way to learning the rudiments of serving a demanding boss. However, one clumsy slip and the drink went everywhere and the boss had to admonish his employee.
It was only later, behind the scenes that the feisty femme decided to get her own back
And administer a little bit of her own rough justice.
Luckily the boss took it all in good faith…
And the dynamic or equilibrium restored…
In total we took about 500 shots to complete this story and will be compiling the results into an amusing short graphic novel which should be available to purchase soon…
Let us know if you like this way of working and we will schedule more storyline shoots.
Given the opportunity to showcase a delightful blonde model as a Druid Goddess we jumped at the chance. We knew she was a grounded individual as she works in animal welfare, and we wanted to capture something of substance and meaning.
Shimmery cape, PVC Boots and Corset and a Druid ceremonial Dagger all blended to create the look.
Then we moved on to disrobing a little and going for a classic boudoir pose.
Next, add in a pair of glasses for the perfect demure secretarial look.
Its always great to work with a model who is diverse in her approach to her kraft. A single shoot turns into a wealth of unique content that can be put to good use in so many ways.
And this is only one look that we played with out of two shot across an afternoon. Wait for a later post where we will reveal the ‘retro femme fatale’ look with a designer hat by Zara Carpenter worth nearly two hundred pounds.
From time to time we like to invite friends over for a fun shoot. Have a look at this extended episode to see some shots from such a day.
The stockings in question are Cervin Fully Fashioned Nylons with a delightful Lurex seam down the back.
They look like RHT Nylons from the side,
And Black Foots from the bottom. But they pair up very nicely with a classic pair of Louboutin Office Court shoes.
Now add some rubber into the mix, worn by our good friend Helen Ryder.
Who knows how to strike a cheeky pose…
And also add her own brand of humour into the mix for what was to be a great ‘cheesecake’ photoshoot.
Most of our models have so much fun that they end up coming back for more and over time become good pals. Shoots are always a laugh, but the intent is on producing something that pops and stimulates the visual senses…and always with a dash of Nylon!
One of our favourite props is a comfy old knackered Chesterfield Captain’s chair.
Its the starting point where we often sit down and have a cuppa and discuss a shoot with a model.
Its also a great prop for posing that facilitates a relaxed stance and allows the subject to adjust a stocking top with style and finesse.
These shots are directly out of the camera without even a first pass edit. Very much a ‘what you see is what you get’ expose. First and foremost composition plays an important role. The model feeling we have made the effort to understand them, that we have conveyed the essentials of the brief in detail and then work to get the best out of the time we spend together. We then pick our favourites and give them a little polish. I am sure you agree what we have straight out of the camera works well.
We are very adept at retouching pictures and will share some examples in later posts. If you need this kind of service we charge fair rates by either the picture or the hour, dependent on volume. Please do contact us if you have a need for such services and would like to know more…
